Matthaus Admits Mesut Ozil Is World-Class

Germany legend LotharMatthaus says that Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil is on his way to becoming one of the world class midfielders.


Only a few months ago, the former Germany captain claimed that Ozil was too inconsistent and was even going into hiding at several times during a game. The 28-year-old midfielder came to Arsenal in £42 million deal from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013. His statistics with the gunners has been almost identical to his days at the Spanish club. Many have criticised the decision of manager Arsene Wenger to sign the player, as many feel that the money could have been well spent elsewhere.

Ozil is entering into the final 18 months of his contract with Arsenal and there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding his future. The midfielder has claimed that he would stay at the Emirates Stadium only if the future of Wenger was sorted out. Ancelotti Won’t Change Formation despite First League Defeat

Bayern Munich suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against archrivals Borussia Dortmund away from home.


This was the first defeat of the season for Bayern Munich, but it raised a lot of questions with regard to the formation and personnel. Manager Carlo Ancelotti opted for a three-man attack against Dortmund, and it was clear that the opposition took advantage of the gaps in the defence. However, Ancelotti has confirmed that there will be no change in the formation when the club take on Rostov in the Champions League. The Russian outfit have been hugely disappointing in the group stages after having taken only one point from their opening four matches.

It is expected to be a comfortable working the park for Bayern, who are in danger of missing out on the top spot. Atletico Madrid lead the group with four victories out of four, and it would take something special for Bayern to top the group now.

They should be ready to take advantage of any dropped points from Atletico. Since, Ancelotti is rumoured to have contemplated a switch in formation for the game against Rostov. The Italian says that there will be no such occurrences on Wednesday night. Despite coming in with a front three of Franck Ribery, Thomas Müller, and Robert Lewandowski, the team failed to find the back of the net.

“We played with three attackers against Dortmund and we won’t change this system for Rostov.Of course, we can play better than we did on Saturday and I’m sure we will show this tomorrow. We have to play when it’s cold and when it’s hot.If we are focused on the game, the temperature isn’t important. Rostov played well here against Atletico and PSV Eindhoven. We’ll have to play well and give 100 percent to win,” said Ancelotti.

Germany thrash Northern Ireland 2-0

European football heavyweights Germany thrashed Northern Ireland 2-0 in a Group C 2018 World Cup qualification clash.


Die Mannschaft are now the favourites to qualify from the group. Former Real Madrid star Sami Khedira and Arsenal summer target Julian Draxler inspired the Germans to the victory over the Irish side.

The visitors scored the first through Draxler. The young talent curled home a stunning effort before Khedira got another four minutes later. Germany had lots of chances to raise the goals margin but they failed to worsen the embarrassment on their hosts. Man City summer addition Ilkay Gundogan threw away an effort and Khedira lost an opportunity to grab a brace.

The Martin O’Neill-led side put up a decent show but they couldn’t handle the German machines. However, they remain set to pick up the runners-up spot in the group, despite being three points behind Azerbeijan.

BRAZIL SET FOR REVENGE MATCH WITH GERMANY

Brazil is set to get revenge when they play Germany in the final game of the men’s Olympic event at the ongoing Olympics in Brazil.


Brazil humiliated Honduras 6-0 at the semi finals in a bid to qualify for their rematch with Germany, while the Germans defeated Nigeria 2-0 in the other semi final fixture. Brazilian fans are still mad after they were disgraced by Germany in the semi final game at the last World Cup on home soil.

Brazil were the one of the favourites to lift the World Cup, especially as they were hosting the event on home soil, but the Germans wouldn’t allow. They didn’t just stop Brazil on home soil; they left fans wailing as they crushed their opponents 7-1 in a brilliant tactical display. The loss makes the top of the most devastating time in Brazilian football history.

Brazil have never won a gold medal in the men’s event at the Olympics despite being a top football nation. They have the opportunity to break this jinx and get revenge for the embarrassment of the last world cup when they play Germany on Saturday. The women team lost to Sweden on Tuesday in the semi finals, leaving the weight of getting gold on the shoulders of Barcelona star player Neymar and the rest of the Brazilian squad.

GERMANY SET TO PLAY ENGLAND LATER THIS YEAR

The Three Lions will meet with the Die Mannschaff of German when both teams reunite for a 50 year rivalry game in November.


The game is set to hold at the National Stadium in Singapore and was inspired by the recently concluded European tournaments, organizers say. They said they wanted to relive one of the internationally renowned football rivalry top reward local Singapore fans for their support all through the years.

Many years back, in one of the most iconic games Geoff Hurst scored a hat trick at the World Cup final. The feat made him the final, and still, the only player to have scored three goals at the final game of the World Cup and the organizers Masters Football Asia have announced that prominent stars that featured for both countries are set to play in the 80 minute, 11-a-side match on the 12th of the month. The game will be played on the 50th anniversary of the 1996 World Cup final where the hosts England lost to West Germany 4-2 after the extra time. When they had the opportunity in 1990, they lost again at the 1990 World cup semi finals.
